The new Tech 3 brake lever replaces the Tech Evo brake lever. Hope has tried to keep the advantages of the Tech Evo brake lever but improve the ergonomics and integration of shifters on the handlebars.
The Tech 3 brake lever works with all current calipers and is 5% stronger than the Tech Evo lever. You can still adjust the lever width and pressure point, and the piston is actuated by a cam and roller system to allow the lever to be pulled without any empty travel or jamming parts. The two-piece clamp that attaches to the handlebar simplifies installation, as you don't have to remove anything from the handlebar to install it.
Some of Hope's customers have found the Tech and Tech Evo brake levers to be relatively bulky and found it hard to find space on the handlebars where they already had to mount triggers for the rear derailleur, front and rear suspension, and adjustable seatpost. For this reason, Hope went to great lengths with the Tech 3 to create a brake lever that integrates easily with the other triggers and remotes. As a result of this design, the brake lever is no longer identical for left and right. However, the Tech 3 can be combined with the Shimano I-Spec Trigger without a special lever clamp. For SRAM exists as an aftermarket part a filigree and inconspicuous lever clamp.
X2 Caliper: The filigree X2 caliper is the result of Hope's development work with COSMOSWorks FEA (Finite Element Analysis). This has allowed Hope to reduce weight, improve aesthetics, and manufacture the ideal partner, the Tech Lever. The caliper is machined from 2014 T6 aluminum as usual and the diameter of the pistons has been increased to transfer more braking force to the disc. The sealed bleed nipple makes for easier maintenance and the wider protruding line outlet simplifies line routing.
